{"id":500,"date":"2019-12-03T12:14:26","date_gmt":"2019-12-03T20:14:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.hfssoft.com\/?p=500"},"modified":"2019-12-03T12:17:42","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T20:17:42","slug":"new-documentation-requirements-for-filing-medicare-cost-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.hfssoft.com\/?p=500","title":{"rendered":"New Documentation Requirements for Filing Medicare Cost Reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CMS published new documentation requirements for filing Medicare Cost Report in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) Final Rule.\u00a0 These new requirements are effective for cost reporting periods beginning on or after October 1, 2018 and additional information can be found in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cms.gov\/Outreach-and-Education\/Medicare-Learning-Network-MLN\/MLNMattersArticles\/Downloads\/SE19015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SE 19015\u00a0<\/a>. While CMS initially addressed standardized formats for the submission of the new documentation the following was communicated in the SE 19015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs noted in the Final Rule, the Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS) agrees that requiring this information to be submitted in standardized formats would ensure consistency of the documentation and facilitate the contractor\u2019s review. CMS plans to include standard formats (templates) in a Paperwork Reduction Act notice to request public comment. <em>Therefore, standardized formats will not be required for cost-report periods beginning on or after October 1, 2018, until further notice<\/em>.
